Wage hike refused by LIC employee unions

The employees’ union of LIC has rejected the government’s offer of a 14% wage hike, demanding at least a 25% increase. Citing the company’s strong financial performance, All india national life insurance employees federation (AINLIEF) along with other unions of LIC, rejected the raise. The wage revision for LIC employees was due since 2017 under a five-year wage revision pact. The last raise was given in 2017, and the next revision was expected in 2022. In a letter earlier, AINLIEF had appealed to the Finance Minister, Mrs. Nirmala Sitharaman, to intervene. It highlights the ongoing tensions between management and workers regarding compensation.
