Walmart eying big on India

Walmart has sourced $30 billion worth of products from India over two decades and aims to reach an annual target of $10 billion by 2027, as revealed by Andrea Albright, EVP – Sourcing. The company’s two-day mega sellers’ growth summit in New Delhi, part of its global export commitment, involves over 100 Walmart merchants evaluating products from Indian sellers. Walmart seeks to triple its exports from India in the next four years. Albright emphasized the importance of investing in high-growth markets like India, with a focus on categories such as toys, electronics, shoes, and shelf-stable food products.

India is the first country, outside the US, where the retail major has announced an export target.
